AGM Summary 2025

The Hibernian Supporters Limited AGM took place at the Hibs Club, Sunnyside, last night with members in attendance in person and online.

A big thanks to everyone who attended and to the Hibernian Supporters Association for their continued support.

A summary of the meeting, which included a range of topics and some exciting plans for the next 18 months, can be viewed below.

Chairman’s Welcome

Jim Adie opened the meeting by thanking the members in attendance both in person at the Hibs Club and also online via Zoom for the first time.

Jim explained there has been a number of positive conversations with Ian Gordon and the Black Knight group in recent months, and a feeling that things are beginning to move in a more joined up manner than they have done in the recent past.

Jim confirmed he was invited to meet with Ryan Caswell and Bill Foley in Las Vegas, and has met with Ian Gordon on two occasions in recent months to reaffirm our commitment to making the football club the very best it can be.

There has been a vastly improved relationship between the club and Hibernian Supporters in recent months, with a broad range of discussions between Hibernian Supporters and various members of senior management within the club taking place.

Both the club and Hibernian Supporters have committed to continued positive dialogue going forward to ensure we are well placed to represent the views of our members and support the football club in a range of ways.

Accounts Overview

Peter McDermott presented the accounts to the meeting, with an overview of the income and expenditure to the year ended 31st January 2025.

Contributions from members have fallen from £150,251 in 2024 to £118,470 in 2025.

£6,971 has been gained in interest from savings accounts, with tax payable on that amount.

Expenditure for the year ending 31st January 2025 increased from £32,319 to £46,470 – largely due to an increase in the Pioneers membership from six seats to ten for the 2024/25 season.

Peter confirmed £166,530 was contributed via club’s secondary share issue in June 2024, with the number of shares owned in HFC increased from c.19m shares to c.21m shares – equity is 6.9% ownership of the club.

Peter also confirmed Hibernian Supporters reserves are down from £345,972 in 2024 to £258,103 in 2025 accounts.

Gerard O’Donnell moved to approve the accounts, seconded by Peter McDermott and the accounts were approved unanimously.

Membership Overview

Daniel Shields confirmed there are currently 2272 fully paid-up members of Hibernian Supporters, with around 700 regular monthly contributors. This figure is down from around 840 in April 2024.

Over 200 eligible members continue to enter the Pioneers draws from week to week, with 450+ fans given the opportunity to experience the hospitality offering since the initiative began at the start of the 2022/23 season.

There was a big commitment to try to increase the membership base, and increase the monthly contributions from fans in order to support the ongoing investment in the club.

Members were encouraged to spread the word of the work that is ongoing, and to encourage fellow supporters to either restart their contributions if they are able or to join us for the first time as we look ahead to an exciting period in the club’s history.

Hibs Supporters’ Panel

Hibernian Supporters have been invited to take part in the club’s Hibs Supporters’ Panel, which aims to improve communication between fans and the club.

Hibernian Supporters will endeavour to portray the views and opinions of our members during panel meetings which will take place three times a year in addition to the club’s AGM.

A member of the Hibernian Supporters board will provide the notes from each meeting – published on the club website – in order to provide a level of impartiality.

Adam Tomlinson – Communications Director at Hibernian FC – was present at the meeting and reiterated the club’s commitment to improving dialogue between supporters and the club.

The Supporters’ Panel meetings will be attended by a member of the club board, as well as relevant members of senior management, in order to provide effective and actionable discussions and we are very pleased to have been invited to be involved.

We are committed to giving our members the chance to have their voice heard throughout the club and will continue to aim to do this as part of the Hibs Supporters’ Panel.

Hibernian FC 150th Anniversary

Hibernian Supporters has been offered an exciting opportunity to support Hibernian FC’s 150th anniversary celebrations by becoming a ‘Principle Partner’ of the club for the 2025/26 season.

Included as part of the agreement will be a range of promotional opportunities for Hibernian Supporters, lots of experiences which members will have a chance of winning and a really meaningful level of financial support for the club in its 150th year.

While some of the finer details are still to be confirmed, the commitment from Hibernian Supporters will be in excess of £100,000 for the season – only made possible by the continued contributions from our members.

In addition to the 10 Pioneers seats for the duration of the season, Hibernian Supporters will benefit from a range of activities with the club which will include stadium advertising, money-can’t buy experiences for our members and a host of 150th anniversary-related benefits.

While the financial commitment is a large one, members present at the meeting felt it was an opportunity worth taking in an effort to re-engage with lapsed contributors and to encourage new members to get on board.

The partnership will provide fresh investment into the club to support the 150th anniversary celebrations whilst also delivering a significant boost to the club’s finances for the 2025/26 season.

Director Nominations

We were pleased to confirm Scott Millar received the required number of nominations from members to be eligible to stand for election to the Hibernian Supporters board, and Scott was duly unanimously voted onto the board at the AGM by the members present.

Scott brings a wealth of experience in the financial services industry and a keen passion for the football club, and we are delighted to welcome Scott onto the board.

It was noted that Hibernian Supporters are still carrying one board vacancy, and with a range of exciting projects to look forward to over the next 18 months anyone with an interest in joining the board would be very much welcomed.

Supporters and members are also encouraged to offer to volunteer their time or expertise if they are willing and able, without the need to formally join the board of directors.

Anyone interested in helping our work is asked to email [email protected] to discuss further.

Any Other Business

Jim Adie opened the floor to any other business. Mike Hennessy shared that he is currently in the process of completing a book about the life and work of Canon Hannan in line with the club’s 150th anniversary – which will be available to purchase from the club later this year.

There was an acknowledgment that the website has not been functioning as smoothly as might have been hoped in the last few months. Our web developer is aware of the issues and is working to resolve these as quickly as possible – and we apologise to any supporters who have experienced trouble accessing their accounts recently.

With no further questions or business, chairman Jim Adie thanked everyone for their attendance in person and online, and formally closed the meeting.
